A workshop that explains itself

Wayfinding and a site for a shared machine shop used by forty makers a week.

Wayfinding, Web design

Forty people a week share the same machines, and almost none of them arrive at the same time. Every question they ask is a question someone answered yesterday.

We put the answers on the walls. The site carries the same system, so a member checking a setting on their phone sees the diagram that is already above the machine.

One system, two surfaces

The wall signs and the site are generated from the same source. When a machine is replaced, the workshop manager edits one record and both change. That was the requirement they cared about, and everything else followed from it.

The signs did more in a fortnight than three years of reminder emails.
